At Serenity Wood we specialise in planking oak to make stunning bespoke products.
Whether you’re looking for a unique chopping board or a rustic table, at Serenity Wood we design and create products to meet your specification. Supplying both waney and live edge planks, Serenity Wood believes in preserving the character and charm of the spectacular wood which we sustainably fell.
SELECTION
At Serenity Wood each trunk is individually selected for quality and character. We use a number of suppliers ranging from local forests, The forestry Commission, country estates and The National Trust. On occasion, we can also use personal wood supplies.
PLANKING
Looking at the trunk and working out the best planking cuts – Not always for maximum yield but normally to show the beauty of the wood.
DRYING
Our wood is dried to the specification required – We can lay our wood down for as long as it takes, but also have the option of kiln drying too! We can also supply oak from very green to truly seasoned.
CHOICE
Depending on the requirement, we will expertly select a wood that is right for both you and us. From supplying a gnarly wood for that totally rustic board, or a pristine joinery grade tabletop, we have something to fit every taste.
who we are
Dean is the founder of Serenity wood. He is a self-taught carpenter who started work in construction and garden landscaping.
Dean’s interest in woodwork was sparked at a young age, having watched his father build and repair boats. However, Deans journey to success has been anything but conventional. In his own words…
“I needed to think, and while in a really dark place I found myself in an actual forest with two paths divided by a huge oak. It was here that a real feeling of serenity hit me. Looking at this great oak, Serenity Wood was born. Sounds a bit rubbish I know, but that is how it happened.”
WHY WE DO IT
At Serenity Wood we understand the importance of second chances.
This is why we work closely with ex-offenders and are proudly partnered with Roughstuff Oak and HACRO.
Both of our partners work towards giving inmates and ex-offenders pride, new skills and job opportunities.
